Facebook will let you block Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan soon

It has been known for quite some time now that you cannot block Facebook's co-founder Mark Zuckerberg or his wife Priscilla Chan on the social media app even if you desperately want to do so. Trying to do so shows an error message and the process is failed. But now there are chances that you may soon be able to do so.

A report from Buzfeed now claims that Facebook is working on this issue and could fix it soon. Zuckerberg told the website that his team is working on to resolve this error but it could take some time. Currently if you try blocking Zuckerberg or his wife, an error message is reflected reading this- "You can report Pages or profiles if you think they're doing something that goes against our Community Standards. Learn more. If you think you're seeing this by mistake, please let us know."

The Facebook users can block anyone except Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. The error has been there since 2010 when it was reported by Tech Crunch. Zuckerberg currently has more than  95 million followers while his wife Priscilla Chan is followed by over 1 million people on Facebook.

Reportedly, Zuckerberg and his wife have been blocked so many times on Facebook that the site's algorithm doesn't allow you to block them anymore.  Apparently, the posts from Zuckerberg are promoted due to some news feed algorithm and are pushed to the news feed of many.

However, it isn't just Chan or Zuckerberg who cannot be blocked on Facebook but anyone who's been blocked for several times.

"I can tell you that people trying to block a profile or Page may see an error message if it has been blocked many times within a short period," the Facebook spokesperson told Buzfeed. "This temporary message does not prevent people from reporting profiles or Pages that they think are in violation of our Community Standards."

Facebook's blocking feature allows you to prevent someone from seeing your posts on your profile, starting conversations with you or even adding you as a friend. Blocking someone also automatically unfriends them from your list. In case you've unblocked someone recently and want to re-block again, you can only do it after 48 hours of unlocking him or her on Facebook.
