A nine-year-old boy Jack Davis has applied for
"planetary protection officer" at National Aeronautics and Space
Administration(NASA) in Washington DC, United States.
Jack wrote a cover letter to space agency NASA explaining
why he should be considered for the role. The same was uploaded by a friend of
Jack's parents on Funny subreddit and has gone viral since.
Here's what he wrote:
Dear NASA,
My name is Jack Davis and I would like to apply for the
planetary protection officer job. I may be nine but I think I would be fit for
the job. One of the reasons is my sister says I am an alien also. I have seen
almost all the space and alien movies I can see. I have also seen the show
Marvel Agents of Shield and hope to see the movie Men in Black. I am great at
vidieo [sic] games. I am young, so I can learn to think like an Alien.
Sincerely,
Jack Davis

Fourth Grade
On July 13, NASA announced that they are hiring an
"planetary protection officer," whose chief responsibilities would
include protecting our beloved planet from the alien menace.
The job description reads:
Planetary protection is concerned with the avoidance of
organic-constituent and biological contamination in human and robotic space
exploration.
NASA maintains policies for planetary protection, applicable
to all space flight missions that may intentionally or unintentionally carry
Earth organisms and organic constituents to the planets or other solar system
bodies, and any mission employing spacecraft, which are intended to return to
Earth and its biosphere with samples from extraterrestrial targets of
exploration.
Not only this the job comes with a hefty salary, as much as
$187,000 (Rs 1,19,01,484). But only US citizens and US nationals can apply.
Though, we may not have a fully time planetary protection
officer yet, but fourth grader Jack Davis definitely makes a case for an
excellent stand in.
