Samsung reportedly working on a 4-inch Galaxy S9 Mini, to launch alongside Galaxy S9, S9+

Samsung maybe readying a 4-inch (or near about) Galaxy S9 Mini to launch alongside the next-generation Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ phones sometime around March next year. Although hardware specs of the purported Galaxy S9 Mini are all but scarce as of the moment, the phone may come with a smaller than 5-inch screen with rounded/curved edges. Whether or not it will also come with an edge-to-edge screen with an unusual (18.5:9) aspect ratio is yet to be seen.

Next year's Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 are expected to retain the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+' Infinity screens (as well as screen size) but Samsung may also launch a mini version of the flagships for people who prefer smaller phones. Should the mini Galaxy S9 also have an edge-to-edge screen, it would then occupy an even smaller footprint when in the hands. It may or may not have the same hardware specs as the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

It must be noted that Samsung has been rumoured to launch a mini version of its flagship phones in the past. It was rumoured to launch one alongside the Galaxy S8, and previously alongside the Galaxy S7 as well, but none of those phones materialized. The given piece of information must therefore be taken with a pinch of salt.
This year's Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ have been hailed for their distinct look and feel. While the Galaxy S8 is a 5.8-inch phone, the S8+ has a 6.2-inch screen. Both the phones boast of a 2960x1440 pixel (WQHD+) resolution and Super AMOLED panels. The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also come with Samsung's trademark always-on functionality.

Both the phones are powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core Exynos 8895 processor clubbed with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU and 4 gigs of RAM along with 64GB of internal memory. Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner and facial recognition for biometric security.

On the camera front, both the phones come with a 12-megapixel 'dual-pixel' rear (with f/1.7 aperture and optical image stabilisation) and an 8-megapixel front shooter combo. While the Galaxy S8 uses a 3,000mAh battery, the Galaxy S8+ houses a bigger 3,500mAh battery.
