Nissan has rolled out the 2018 model year updates for its
ageing coupe, the 370Z. While its successor iswellunder development, Nissan has
injected some life into the current model which has been around for years now.
Here’s what the update looks like.
The design updates include black door handles and a black
rear bumper fascia. Dark-tinted headlamps and rear combination lights (which
were previously only available on the Nismo model) are now standard.
The new 370Z also gets different 19-inch alloy wheels and a
new metallic red exterior body colour. Otherwise, the car retains its low,
stubby stance and continues to look good despite its age.
Nissan has partnered with the performance brand Exedy to
offer a new high-performance clutch into manual versions of the 370Z for better
shift quality and engagement.
The NissanConnect infotainment system, featuring a 7-inch
touchscreen, GPS navigation and rear-
view camera, is standard on GT grade as
well as the 370Z Nismo.
Power comes from a 3.7-litre 328bhp V6, driving the rear
wheels via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission. The 370Z
Nismo remains on sale without the MY18 updates.
The 370Z is the only car in the segment to offer automatic
rev-matching. The fully synchronised down/up shift rev control system on the
manual gearbox allows for smoother downshifts.
Nissan’s Z-car story began in 1969 with the launch of the
Fairlady Z/Datsun 240Z. Since then, we have had the 280ZX and 300ZX, to the
modern day 350Z and today’s 370Z.
The 2018 Nissan 370Z is now on sale in the UK with on-road
prices starting from £29,185 (Rs 24.12 lakhs). It competes against the likes of
the Audi TT and the BMW Z4.
