Mini has announced that a pair of new special editions
models will make their way to Australia before the end of the year, following
the success of the most recent Mini Seven Edition.
Product specialist for Mini, Daniel Silverwood, announced
the two new models at the recent launch of the John Cooper Works Countryman SUV
in Victoria.
The first to arrive will be the based on the Clubman Cooper
S and wear the Masterpiece moniker - finished in White Silver metallic paint
with a contrasting black roof, mirror caps, and bonnet stripes plus 18-inch
Masterpiece alloy wheels and LED driving lights.
Inside, the Masterpiece picks up an upgraded infotainment
system that adds Apple CarPlay and wireless phone charging as well as the new
Mini Connected system first seen on the Countryman range.
The Clubman Masterpiece limited edition will be restricted
to just 30 units in Australia, set to go on sale in October. Mini claims almost
$18,000 worth of extra equipment for an extra $11,400.
That will be followed by the Ice Blue edition hatch (top of
page), based on the standard Cooper specification and available in both three-
and five-door body styles with just 20 of each for Australia.
The name commemorates the reintroduction of Ice Blue paint
from the previous generation Mini, with black accents for the roof, mirrors,
and bonnet stripes, 16-inch black alloy wheels, plus LED headlights and
bumper-mounted fog lights, and interior additions for an extra $5000.
Full details and pricing are expected to be revealed closer
to the two special edition models hitting Australian showrooms.
Of the 420 Mini Seven limited editions that went on sale in
May this year only a handful of units remain in dealer stock, with Mini
Australia managing director Tony Sesto saying “we could have sold a lot more if
we were able to get our hands on those.”
