Chicken Curry

Chicken Curry is not just a gourmet dish but a wonderful cure for cold too! It is a fact scientifically proven that having chicken soup or chicken curry helps alleviate symptoms of common cold. Traditional chicken curry is made with a lot of spices used in Indian recipes that are healthy and also impart a delectable aroma to the dish. Chicken curry is an easy recipe and can be used as a non-vegetarian main course for lunch and dinner and is also quite popular as a party recipe.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 kilograms washed & dried chicken
  • 100 ml mustard oil
  • 2 teaspoon crushed to paste green chilli
  • 1 teaspoon crushed to paste cumin
  • 1 teaspoon yoghurt (curd)
  • 1 teaspoon crushed to paste ginger
  • 200 gm ghee
  • 500 gm chopped onion
  • 3 teaspoon crushed to paste coriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon crushed to paste garlic

How to make Chicken Curry

Step 1

Drain and wash the chicken under cold running water and keep aside till it is almost dry.

Step 2

Heat ghee in a pan over moderate flame. Add cumin, garam masala and heeng.

Step 3

Add onions and cook till golden. Now add the chicken, ginger garlic paste, salt and curd. Mix well and cover. Do not let the steam escape. Though you do not need to pressure cook it.

Step 4

When chicken is half done, add all other spices and cook for few minutes on medium flame. Keep stirring till the chicken is properly cooked.

Step 5

Cook further till the oil starts separating from the mixture. Add one cup water and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Step 6

Remove from fire and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Step 7


Serve chapathi or rice.
